Houseboat Row

Cudjoe Key, Florida (high 85, low 78)

This darn “crud” Al and I picked up is still hanging on, despite all of our best home remedies.  We got a different brand of Echinacea, tried the sliced onion by the bed, and then last night, we finally we remembered Oregano Oil.  Al swears by Oregano Oil, but I can’t get past the strong smell and have never tried it.  It’s very strong and you have to add a few drops to a liquid and then drink it. I gave him some last night, so I guess time will tell.

Anyway, we aren’t felling well enough to do much that takes any energy, but we have managed to at least go for a few drives.  It’s been too hot to do anything that isn’t in the air conditioning or the water.

Yesterday, we needed to take a Red Box video back, and decided to head down to Key West.  We had been wanting to get a specific picture that I had seen taken, but hadn’t yet figured out where to get it that didn’t involve going onto the Navy Base.

Al managed to find the spot where I could get a good picture.

We found the road to the marina nearby the “Fly Navy” building.

Here is houseboat row.

If you notice, there are ladders to get to the upper decks.

We walked down to the end of the pier for a better shot.  This guy didn’t want to move, so I decided to include him in the photo.

On the walk back, we saw another houseboat moving along the waterway.  I was surprised how fast it could go.  He may have been going to get a “pump out.”  There was a sign saying all boats moored there needed a sticker showing they had a sewer pump out in the past 10 days.

Soon, the heat started to get to us, so we decided to get back into our air conditioned truck and head home.

Like I always say, you never know what you’ll see in Key West.  I always try to remember my camera.

Can you see the phone on the dash of this car?  There is also a satellite dish in the back.

A new kind of cell phone?

  1. We drove by those house boats and never even thought of them artistically. It turned out great.
One would think that if you are moored far enough off shore you would have a large sized holding tank.
Looks like someone is trying their hand at blending old technology with new.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.
